Visit of Pope John Paul the Second to Gorée

On 22 February 1992, Pope John Paul II visited Gorée Island. Before the door of no return of the House of Slaves, he prayed in memory of all the victims of the slave trade. This solemn moment was watched by millions of people around the world.
