Cheikh Anta Diop — "Black Nations and Culture"

1954 · Dakar

In 1954, the Senegalese scholar Cheikh Anta Diop published in Paris a book titled Nations Nègres et Culture. In it he argued that ancient Egypt was an African civilisation, with linguistic and anthropological evidence. His work was first contested, then progressively recognised. This book changed the way many people view the history of Africa.
