Christian Casamance
20th century · Ziguinchor
In Casamance, southern Senegal, Christianity took root among the Diola peoples during the 20th century, side by side with animism and Islam. The Diola integrated the Christian faith into their own identity, without abandoning their traditions. Casamance is a fine example of religious diversity and tolerance.
