Islamic University of Pire

1603 · Pire

In 1603, a scholar named Khaly Amar Fall founded at Pire-Goureye, in the Thiès region, a great Islamic school. Students from all over West Africa flocked there to learn the Quran and the sciences. It was one of the first great Islamic universities of Senegal.
