Mobile phones and the Internet — the end of distance

Années 2000 · Dakar

Around the year 2000, the mobile phone spread across Senegal with the operators Alizé and Sentel, soon followed by the Internet. Within a few years, communication, informal trade and social life were transformed: people call, send money, sell and organise straight from their pocket. Distances vanished, changing the daily life of millions of Senegalese.
