Cheikh Bou Kounta — Ndiassane, capital of the Qadiriyya

Cheikh Bou Kounta settled near Tivaouane and founded Ndiassane, which became the main centre of the Qadiriyya brotherhood in Senegal. A great scholar and man of peace, he was respected by all the great spiritual figures of his time. Ndiassane remains to this day a place of prayer, teaching and contemplation.
