The Djolof Empire
~14th century · Linguère
Around the year 1350, a man named Ndiadiane Ndiaye united under a single authority the Wolof kingdoms of Waalo, Cayor and Baol together with the Serer kingdoms of Sine and Saloum. Their supreme ruler bore the title of Buurba — king of Jolof. This empire governed a large part of present-day Senegal for nearly two centuries, until the Battle of Danki in 1549.
