Basketball — Senegal's pride
1974 – 2009 · Dakar
Senegal is one of the great nations of African basketball. In 1997, at home in the Marius Ndiaye Stadium in Dakar, the men's Lions won the African Championship, led by Makhtar Ndiaye, the first Senegalese to play in the NBA — a great moment of national unity. The women's Lionnes have dominated the continent since the 1970s, piling up African titles to become the most decorated women's side in African basketball history.
